Brief History
Mike Van Wingerden began his business in Whatcom County in the 1980s. His love for plants comes from a long history of his family working with plants. Mike learned many things about growing from his father, John. Currently, we have over 10 acres of growing space. We have 18 greenhouses and seem to be growing all the time! We currently produce about 5 million bedding plants, 35,000 hanging baskets, and 140,000 poinsettias. We grow over 30 varieties of vegetables, 85 varieties of premium annuals, and over 200 varieties of bedding plants. We also ship plugs (small starter plants) to other greenhouses around the Pacific Northwest and Canada and currently produce around 60 million plugs. We employ 40-120 people throughout the year. Our Garden Center is growing each year and we look forward to the changes the future will bring.
